The Second Grand Principal Visits Buckinghamshire

The Buckinghamshire First Principals’ Chapter had the pleasure on the occasion of their Installation meeting of hosting the visit of the Second Grand Principal, George Pipon Frances.

The First Principal of the Chapter Dr Richard Neale, Grand Superintendant of Buckinghamshire, on behalf of the Chapter welcome Second Grand Principal on his first official visit to the Province of Buckinghamshire, referring to their friendship over the years and enjoyment of each other’s company on many  happy occasions at other Provinces, Richard reminded him that their first meeting might have got off to a bad start,  when he was in practice as a GP  part of the area covered by his medical centre was Eton School, coinciding at the time the Second Principal was a pupil at the school, their first meeting may have been under less enjoyable circumstances!

Much loved Companion Arthur Driver past Scribe E of the Buckinghamshire was installed as First Principal, Second Principal Michael Sharp and Third Principal Roger Bashford.

Companions Tony Cersell and Frank Mills presented a talk on the “Rock Ride” a sponsored bike ride from Gibraltar to Buckingham finishing at the 2010 festival family day at Stow School.

The 1500 mile ride started at Gibraltar on the 26th June where they received a tremendous send off from the District Grand Lodge of Gibraltar, achieving a hundred miles a day arriving at Buckingham University on the 10th July to be welcome by a number of dignitaries including John Bercow MP, The Speaker of the House of Commons.

The “Rock Ride” raised £70,000 for Charity, the talk and achievement was warmly received.

During the festive board, the Second Grand Principal thanked the Chapter for their hospitality and gave an undertaking that he would not leave his next visit to Buckinghamshire for two long.
