On August bank holiday weekend, the picturesque garden of the Grand Superintendent, Dr. Richard Neale, once again thronged with members of the Inglefield Chapter and other invited guests, including members of the Bucks Royal Arch Executive. The event was the now customary annual garden party and barbecue, hosted by Richard and his wife Pru.

The two Johns, John McKenzie ably assisted by John Keeble, the Deputy Grand Superintendent, slaved away for hours over two smoking barbecues producing amazing smells and a fine selection of delicious sizzling fare which was enjoyed by all. The weather stayed fine with the occasional appearance of glimpses of  the sun, to the delight of everyone present.

Later in the afternoon, Dr. Neale thanked everyone who had helped Pru and himself to put on the event, especially the partners of many of the attending Companions, who had worked so hard in the kitchen to deliver a truly outstanding choice of food. He then introduced Mike Blane, the newly appointed Royal Arch Provincial Charity Steward, who had come along to give an update on the appeal, which marks the completion of Dr. Neale’s term of office by raising charity funds for Richard’s wife Pru to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He announced that “Since the appeal was announced earlier in the summer, it has already raised over £1,000.” and he hoped that, through the generosity of those Chapter which had yet to contribute, it would raise considerably more by the time the appeal reached its conclusion in March. 2015. Pru Neale then accepted the offer to respond by thanking those who already had and those who were going to make contributions to the appeal. She explained that her motivation for choosing the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, was that in the past, her family had been impacted considerably by juvenile diabetes. She added that she had been delighted to be told that the Royal Arch Province of Buckinghamshire would be able to assist by providing funding that would help to make information available to those living with or helping to care for those with the condition, as well as helping to campaign to increase the focus and funding for research to find a cure.

Those chapters in Bucks. whose members would like to contribute and make a donation to this very worthwhile appeal, and at the same time indicate their appreciation to Dr. Neale for his many years of dedicated service to our Province, should send a cheque made out to “The Provincial Grand Chapter of Buckinghamshire”, to Mike Blane at 17, Keats Drive, Towcester, Northants. NN12 6LT. He would be delighted to hear from you.
