An extraordinary convocation of Provincial Grand Chapter was held at the Masonic Hall Aylesbury, on Wednesday the 11th of April, formally to amalgamate Aylesbury Chapter No 4534 with Fairway Chapter No 8614, thereby forming the Aylesbury Fairway Chapter No 8614. Presiding over the Extraordinary Meeting, The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent John Keeble, assisted by his Executive and Acting Officers of the year.  The convocation was very well attended with many distinguished guests.

The Grand Superintendent addressed the Companions:-

“On the 14th of May 1947 E.Comp Major A G T Smith MEGS consecrated the Aylesbury Chapter No 4534 at the Aylesbury Masonic Hall. At the concecration the aspirations and hopes of the Chapter Founders were celebrated. Some thirty-five years later on the 22nd  of September 1982 E. Comp Sir Ralph Verney MEGS consecrated Fairway Chapter No 8614 with the same hopes and  aspirations.

In those days and the future of Freemasonry was still in a period of growth, the
future seemed secure. However time waits for no man and circumstances change.

Aylesbury reached a position where it found itself unable to continue and were thus faced with two options surrender the Charter or seek an amalgamation or as I would like to see it, A  UNION.

The aspiration and hopes of those two grand superintendents are now being brought together to create a New Chapter – Aylesbury Fairway and the values espoused by those two companions must live on.

Companions  today will be a new beginning and your legacy (each one of you) will be the success of this Chapter. Aylesbury Fairway No 8614.”

Fifty one of the companions who attended the convocation then proceeded to the dining room for a wonderful festive board, good speeches, good company, good food a memorable Masonic occasion!
