Buckinghamshire Provincial Grand Chapter Update

E Comp Graham Peter Dearing, DepGSupt in Charge

Dear Brethren and Companions

The last few months have been unprecedented in Masonic circles. With all Masonic activities suspended for four months, Lodges and Chapters have not been able to meet and enjoy the company of their brothers and companions. All Masonic efforts have focused on helping the wider community. I know you are all aware of all the fantastic work which has been taking place across the Province by so many. Have a look at the Provincial Craft website www.buckspgl.org and update yourself on what continues to be happening in the name of Buckinghamshire Freemasonry. It will make you very proud.

With so many positive stories in the press and on social media, it is good to know that Buckinghamshire Freemasonry is catching the eye of many potential new members. New enquiries on the provincial website have meant the membership team are the busiest they have ever been and it is hoped that many Lodges across the Province will benefit from an influx of new candidates when we return.

Getting new members to join Freemasonry can be a challenge, getting them to be fully engaged and understand what is going on is even harder. Buckinghamshire Craft has one of the best light blue clubs in the country. The North East Corner Club (NECC) has engaged, educated and entertained new Buckinghamshire Freemasons for many years. It continues to develop and help new Craft Masons answer many questions.

Following on from the remarkable success of the NECC, and in association with the NECC, the Royal Arch in Buckinghamshire is launching the Royal Arch Vision Club (RAVC). It is aimed at not only new companions but also those companions who would like to continue to expand their Masonic Knowledge.

To help facilitate the formal launch, a Facebook page has now been set up by E Comp Nick Wilson for companions to register their interest in this exciting new initiative. For those of you who are not Facebook active, here is a brief guide on how to do it.

– Log on to Facebook online, or using the app on your smartphone.

– Search for “Royal Arch Vision Club”

– Click “Join Group“

– Answer the pre-set question (which is simply chapter name and number)

It is as simple as that.

Once more is known about the resumption of Masonic activities we will be able to let companions know about the first meeting of the RAVC along with the subjects covered. I, for one, am continually learning about the Holy Royal Arch and like most things, the more you know about something, the more you enjoy it and the more you want to be fully engaged.

If you are not yet a member of the Holy Royal Arch and are yet to complete your Masters Masons degree, there has never been a better time to seriously consider the next natural step in your Masonic journey. If you would like to know more, please visit www.buckspgc.org

As I said at the beginning of this letter, while formal Masonic activities have currently been suspended, Masons across the Province continue to practice the core values of Masonry that help define us as Masons. Integrity, Friendship, Respect, and Charity. A perfect demonstration of this has been the work of our Provincial Craft Executive, who have worked tirelessly in supporting initiatives across the Province. I thought I had worked hard as an APGM, but after seeing the workload the current executive is getting through, I am not so sure. I know from many years of working with the Craft Executive how supportive they are of Holy Royal Arch, and myself in my new role.

Brethren and companions, the Covid crisis is not over yet, and we must all stay vigilant. We must also begin to plan for what the future looks like. The success of the Province means we need to get new members to join and keep those members.  The NECC has proved to be a huge success and we now need to ensure that the RAVC mirrors that success. If you could do one thing this weekend, please sign up on Facebook for the RAVC now and start the journey.

Sincerely and fraternally

Graham
