Following the lifting of the lockdown and the subsequent parliamentary vote yesterday the rules for meetings under Covid have changed. The Grand Lodge suspension which was in place has now been lifted and some Provinces are starting to commence their meetings. At present UGLE have left it to individual Provincial Grand Masters and Grand Superintendents to decide whether meetings should take place in their provinces.
Having considered the number of candidates we have waiting to join and after careful consideration with our own Executives as well as consulting with our neighbouring provinces, it is with a heavy heart that we have taken the decision in Buckinghamshire to continue with an advisory suspension of meetings until the 4th January 2021. This means that for meetings due to occur in that time we are recommending that those meetings do not go ahead and should be suspended. To do so, all that is required is for a note to be put in the minute book to say the meeting has been suspended at the advice of the Provincial Grand Master / Grand Superintendent owing to Covid-19.
This has been a difficult decision which is going to directly affect 35 of our Lodges and 9 Chapters who had regular meetings within this period. Our main concern has however to be the safety of our members and their families. With the news today that the first vaccine has been approved and will start being given next week, the light at the end of the tunnel is appearing and I hope that as we review the situation I will be able to offer some better news as the new year approaches.
For the time being, please do not forget to keep in touch with those members of your Lodge / Chapter you are buddying with, do all you can to look after yourselves and your families and keep safe.
Yours sincerely and fraternally
