The Yeomanry Hall in Buckingham was the impressive venue for a celebration on Thursday, 26th January, 2023 of the 125 th anniversary (its quasquicentennial – yes, there is such a word) of the granting of a Charter to Addington Chapter. And what an evening it turned out to be! The members and visitors present were treated to a great example of how an Exaltation ceremony should be performed. The work carried out between the MEZ, E Comp Robin Harding, and visitor and Acting PS, E Comp Andrew Hunter of Wineslai Chapter, was wonderful to watch. The candidate, Brother Matthew James (Jim) Weavill of Grenville Lodge, was suitably impressed, so much so that he can hardly wait for an opportunity to witness, in light what he experienced in darkness and plans to attend another chapter very soon. Recovering from its enforced shutdown due to Covid, the Chapter is making progress. Having just had one Exaltee, there is another candidate for Exaltation in the pipeline for the April convocation, together with two joiners. Now that is how chapters should be meeting the Grand Superintendent's Provincial Challenge. I'm sure that most Chapters have access to a pool of quality potential candidates. Let's all dip into it. But, of course, we should not forget to look after those already with us. Like Addington, we need, as our Grand Superintendent frequently reminds us, to ensure that our meetings are "an event". That way, members and visitors will want to keep coming back for more. A fine festive board, accompanied by a glass of Port for the Toasts (courtesy of the MEZ) and a great deal of banter, rounded off a memorable evening. To celebrate the event, the Chapter was honored with a visit from our Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, Excellent Companion Graham Peter Dearing, who was escorted by E Comp Paul Bird (Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies) and accompanied by 11 other Officers
