Buckingham Celebrates 150 + !!!
On Thursday the 9th of December, Buckingham Chapter celebrated one hundred and fifty years, from being consecrated at the George Hotel, Aylesbury, on 13th December 1870. The Celebration was due to be held at the December Installation meeting in 2020, however due to the Covid Pandemic the celebration meeting was delayed by a year, (due to a surge in the Covid variant Omicrom face masks were worn at this meeting).
At the meeting Buckingham Chapter were delighted to receive a visit from our Most Excellent Grand Superintendent Graham Peter Dearing accompanied by his Executive and Provincial Officers.
The well attended meeting was very special as well-loved Companion Stan Cochrane, who has been a member of the Buckingham Chapter for 51 years, was installed as First Principal of the Chapter along with Stephen Gill, who was installed as Second Principal and our Provincial Scribe E, Mel Shah a new joining member installed as Third Principal.
The ceremonial work in the chapter room was to a high standard, led by the Installing First Principal Richard Whitaker, all who took part in the ceremony of Installation are to be congratulated, a real joy for all who were present.
Our Most Excellent Grand Superintendent presented a Buckingham Chapter past First Principal's gold jewel to the First Principal of the Chapter. A jewel which he had treasured over many years, to mark the occasion of 150 years of the Chapter and to be presented to future First Principals of the Chapter at Installation.
In honour of the Chapter's 150 years, E Comp Stephen Knight presented a well-researched, interesting and eloquent short history of the Chapter, which was very well received by the companions. (see above tab "Province" sub tab "Chapter News".
Scribe E of the Chapter John Power, introduced future plans for Buckingham Chapter which had been prepared with the Province, with the Chapter becoming the Chapter of Masonic Research for the Province, at this meeting the Chapter received a number of joining members, the future of the Chapter is bright!
Our Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, with much pleasure presented to the First Principal of the Chapter Stan Cochrane and his brother Ray Cochrane 50 year service to the Royal Arch Certificates, along with the warm thanks of the Province for their outstanding service to the Royal Arch.
The meeting was followed by a very enjoyable festive board, which followed the menu of the Chapters centenary celebration 51 years ago.
