Within Freemasonry, Logic (or Dialectic) teaches a Mason to distinguish truth from error by the careful exercise of reason. It encourages the examination of ideas with patience, fairness, and intellectual honesty, guarding against prejudice, assumption, and false conclusions. Through Logic, a Mason learns to test every proposition before accepting it, ensuring that his judgments are guided by wisdom rather than emotion.
